How to Add Verification to Your Discord Server

Verification makes new members prove they're human before they can see your server. It stops most raid bots and spam accounts, and makes sure people see your rules first. It takes about five minutes to set up.

Why use verification?

• Raid protection: bot accounts that join in bulk can't post anywhere.
• Rules first: members must look at your rules channel before chatting.
• Cleaner stats: you can see who actually engaged, not just who joined.

Set up a Verify button

1. Create a role called Verified.
2. In every category except your welcome and rules area, deny View Channel for @everyone and allow it for Verified.
3. Make a #verify channel that @everyone can see but not type in.
4. Add Nodariq and run /verify setup: pick #verify and the Verified role. It posts a Verify button.

💡 Turn on a minimum account age (for example 3 days). Brand-new accounts are the most common source of spam, and they get a clear message explaining why they have to wait.

Combine it with Discord's built-in safety

Discord has its own settings that work well alongside a Verify button:

• Server Settings → Safety Setup → Verification level: "Medium" requires members to have had an account for 5 minutes.
• Onboarding: ask new members questions and give roles based on their answers.
• AutoMod: block common spam words and mention spam.

What verification doesn't stop

Verification stops new accounts. It doesn't stop hacked accounts, real members whose account got taken over and starts posting fake Nitro or Steam links. For that you need scam-link detection. See how to stop scam links in Discord.
